Oprah has always been known for her help to charity. During her childhood she faced a lot of hardship and because of that it comes as no surprise that she would help those in need. In 2010 alone she donated over 40 million dollars to various charities. Oprah has often appealed to fans of her show to donate heavily to certain organizations. She has also gone as far as to start her own charities. A remarkable woman, and an inspiration to us all.
Jessica Alba
Best know for her role in “Fantastic Four” Jessica has contributed a lot of time and money into various charities. She has donated herself to charities on many occasion, once acting in a film to promote AIDS awareness for free, she also regularly takes part in celebrity sports with all the proceeds going to charity. The stunning celeb supports over twenty different charities.
Bono
When you think about charity and celebrities you can’t leave out Bono. The U2 frontman has been helping charity organizations all over the world for over 20 years now and it doesn’t look like he has any plans of slowing down. He is best know for his tireless fight to end world hunger. Although recently his charity organization ‘ONE’ has come under some serious allegations of fraud and mismanagement, Bono is still applauded for his humanitarian efforts over the past years.
Lady Gaga
Although fairly new to the scene, Lady Gaga is setting a high standard of expectations for charitable celebrities. She has been working hard in promoting AIDs awareness and supporting the gay community. Lady Gaga donated all of the proceeds from one of her concerts to Haiti in the wake of the natural disaster. She also works with a lot of charity focused on giving to children. Given the amount on controversy this singer creates, it’s nice to see she has a tender side. Another great inspirational woman.
